Cookies & tracking
A plain-English description of the technologies IntentNexa uses on websites where it is installed. It is not legal advice. Each website owner is responsible for their own website, their own configuration and their own policies.
Necessary technologies
Some storage is needed for a website to work at all — remembering that a page has loaded, keeping a form usable, or remembering a privacy choice. The record of a visitor's privacy choice itself is stored in the browser so the choice can be respected on the next page.
Optional analytics
A website owner can switch on IntentNexa analytics. This records page visits, navigation, returning activity and engagement on the owner's own website. The website owner chooses whether this is optional or necessary for their own purposes; IntentNexa does not make that decision for them.
Visitor and session identifiers
When analytics is active, a random visitor identifier is stored in the browser and a random session identifier is stored for the current visit. These are random values. They contain no name, no email address and no account details, and they are only meaningful on the website that set them.
Similar technologies
IntentNexa uses browser local storage and session storage rather than traditional advertising cookies. They are covered by the same preferences, and they are cleared when a visitor clears their browser storage for the website.
Network information
Websites receive a network address with every request. Where the website owner has IntentNexa configured to do so, that address may be used on the server to look up network information — for example the type of network, or the organisation that operates it. The address is handled in a short-lived server-side step and is not shown in the product.
Why the website owner uses this
To understand how their website is used and, where the available evidence supports it, to see which organisations may be researching them. Identification is probabilistic: it is often unavailable, and cookies do not identify a company. When the evidence is not strong enough, the visit simply stays unidentified.
Changing your preferences
Where a website shows the IntentNexa banner, the choice can be changed at any time through the 'Privacy preferences' control on that website. Turning optional analytics off stops new optional activity being recorded. It does not, by itself, delete information the website owner has already collected.
